The Caribbean Tour 2010 ended today in Guadalupe.

The morning was cloudy and windy but with air temperature already up to 25ºC. Everyone was feeling excited to paddle and enjoy the strong winds unfortunately the organisation found out they were blowing in the wrong direction, but the organizers made a smart move and soon announced a change on the original course, Les Saintes to Guadalupe, everything was swiftly arranged and soo we were on the other side of the channel where the conditions were just amazing, the new course was settled into a short upwind, followed by a 9 km downwind and than a flat section to Basse Terre of 7 km.

Start took place at 10:30 in Trois Rivieres, Guadalupe, the Nelo hotspot was setted up in the turning point after the upwind paddle, taken by Nuno Santos (POR) one of the Nelo staff, followed by José Ramalho (POR) and Tommy Karls (SWE).

The next 9km were pure downwind, with really fast runs up to 25km/h. After the downwind section Nuno Santos (POR) was leading by 2 minutes over Tommy Karls (SWE), Franck Filis (GDP) and Henrique Silva (POR) that were fighting for the 2nd position.

On the last 7km, totally flat, once again the heat made it harder for everyone. Tommy Karls (SWE) ended on 1st place with in 1h14m50s, Henrique Silva (POR) on 2nd place with 1h15m44s and on 3rd place Nuno Santos (POR) with 1h16m15s.

This was the end of a great week of racing, from the Nelo point of view, one more enriching experience collecting feedback, trying the boats in challenging conditions and above all bonding with the awesome surf ski comunity of the caribbean, that we wish to cooperate more and more in the future.
