Tomorrow is the day for the big race! 10 Km downwind from Póvoa do Varzim do VIla do Conde.

The two turning points wil be the same as last year and this will allow us to compare races and times and to start building a history of the NELO Summer Challenge.

The biggest is is the finish, this time in Vila do Conde and not in Azurara’s beach. This change will allow for better organization and better service for our athletes, while keeping everything for an exciting finish.

The race will be broadcast live from our website with live comments, viewers feedback, realtime standings and virtual tracking. Don’t miss any of the action!

Nelo Summer Challenge 2011 Diary - Day 3

Thursday, 25-Aug-11 22:44:13 UTC

Today our guests had the chance to learn a bit more about Portugal’s history and culture in the morning and in the afternoon one more training session, but in the reverse race direction as the wind was from the south.

For tomorrow a sunny day is expected and better weather and water conditions are expected.

Also tomorrow there will be a chance for everyone to try a Stand Up Paddle Board.

This is an emerging global sport with a Hawaiian heritage that has benn gathering visibily all around.

In this edition, NELO Summer Challenge associated itself with SUP Addition Portugal to host its first SUP race. And already this event has been sanctioned by IOSUP and will count for the world ranking!

Today was a day already at full speed!

The practice sessions were fuller as more athletes arrived. Check out the interviews with Manuel Busto (http://www.nelo.eu/tv/musicvideo.php?vid=65a1ac66a) and Carlos Cruz (http://www.nelo.eu/tv/musicvideo.php?vid=b5aef33f1).

All the photos are available at our site http://summer2011.nelo.eu/index.php/new/multimedia/?tab=2 and our Flickr account http://www.flickr.com/photos/nelokayaks/collections/72157627511915836/.

For tomorrow more practice sessions expected, combined with some cultural exercise with a guided tour to Vila do Conde’s sea heritage.
The weather will be a bit cloudy and not so good for downwind.

Stay in touch as we’ll have a video compilation of this first days.
